About NRL Seeds

Ten years of breeding seed for real soil, not showrooms

We started as a small vegetable breeding effort outside Hyderabad in 2015. Today NRL Seeds develops and distributes hybrid vegetable and field-crop varieties bred specifically for Indian growing conditions.

How we started

Built on a simple bet: better seed pays for itself

NRL Seeds Pvt. Ltd. was incorporated in 2015 and is headquartered in Kompally, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Telangana. The company set out to do one thing well — breed vegetable and field-crop varieties suited to the soils, pest pressure and market demands of Indian farms, rather than adapting varieties designed elsewhere.

That focus shaped how the company grew. Instead of a wide catalog from day one, early years went into a small number of vegetable hybrids, tested repeatedly before release. Field-crop varieties followed once that breeding and trial process was proven.

  • Headquartered in Kompally, Hyderabad, with an active dealer network across 12 states
  • In-house germination and genetic-purity testing before every seed lot ships
  • A catalog spanning vegetable hybrids and field crops, bred and trialled locally
What guides the breeding program

Our values

01

Farmer-first breeding

Every trait we select for — yield, disease tolerance, shelf life — is chosen because it changes what a farmer takes home, not because it looks good on a data sheet.

02

Evidence over claims

A variety doesn't get a name until it has held up across multiple seasons and locations. We'd rather trial for a year longer than oversell a result.

03

Regional relevance

Seed bred for one state's soil and pest pressure doesn't always travel. We test locally before we sell locally.

04

Long-term relationships

Our agronomy team stays in touch with dealers and growers through the season, not just at the point of sale.

PLOT B-12
Before anything is sold

Quality control happens twice: in the lab, and in the field

Every seed lot is tested in-house for germination rate and genetic purity before it leaves Kompally. That's the lab half of the promise in our tagline.

The field half comes from multi-location trial plots run across at least two full growing seasons in the target agro-climatic zone, so a variety's yield and disease response are seen under real conditions before it's released to dealers.

  • Germination testing on every lot before dispatch
  • Multi-location field trials across two or more seasons
  • Agronomy notes fed back into the next breeding cycle

Who does the work

Four teams, one catalog

NRL Seeds is organised around the breeding-to-field pipeline rather than a single big department — each team owns a stage of getting a variety from cross to sown field.
